We have launched a new e-learning module designed to support those working on the retrofit of pre-1919 solid wall buildings.
This module explores how to retrofit pre-1919 solid wall buildings safely, effectively, and in line with Welsh policy. Developed by Morwenna Slade (Hennacliff Consulting) and presented by Nell Hellier (Tywi Centre), it combines practical guidance with policy context to support informed retrofit decisions.
Learners will gain an understanding of the wider retrofit landscape, including relevant planning policies and heritage considerations for traditional buildings. The module also covers how to assess and understand existing building fabric, model building performance, and identify suitable retrofit approaches, options, and measures.
In addition, the course guides you through how to review, evaluate, and justify retrofit proposals, alongside key aspects of implementation, project management, and the consent process.
